About Corto Maltese

Corto Maltese is the historic beach kiosk on Cagliari's Poetto beach, for thirty years the little bar on the sand most loved by the city's alternative music fans. Overlooking the sea, with the stage just steps from the shoreline, it combines the laid-back feel of a beach bar with a surprisingly intense live programme. Its stage hosts punk, emo, hardcore and alternative rock gigs, with emerging Sardinian bands, acts from the Italian independent circuit and touring international groups, alongside electric open mics, acoustic nights, drum sessions and DJ sets. The mixed, loyal crowd enjoys the shows in a relaxed, barrier-free atmosphere, between a swim and a sunset over the Gulf of Angels. Corto Maltese has thus become a symbol of Cagliari's underground scene, where live music blends with beach life in every season.
