About Csa Zapata

CSA Zapata is the historic self-managed social centre of Sampierdarena, at Via Dario Pirlone 1, active since the 1990s as a place for community, culture and self-organisation in west Genoa. Antiracist, antifascist and antisexist, it houses a grassroots gym, theatre, a craft brewery and above all a rich live music programme with free or low-cost entry. The lineup follows the great social centre tradition: punk, hardcore, ska, reggae, dub, rap and hip hop, alternative rock and electronica, with emerging Ligurian bands, names from the Italian DIY circuit and touring international acts. Every Thursday the Free Jam Session opens the stage to the city's musicians, turning Zapata into an open lab. A musical and social stronghold that has kept Genoa's independent culture alive for over twenty-five years.
